Any individual who is discovered to be in breach of the smoking bylaw may be subject to a fine
between $100 and $5,000 for a first offence.

between $100 and $10,000 for each offence if convicted for multiple offences.
In accordance with the City’s Littering and Dumping By-law 103-2020, the act of dispersing smoking materials, such as cigarette butts, on the ground is considered to be littering and carries a minimum penalty of $500.
